Superworms are the larvae of the Zophobas morio darkling beetle. Similar to mealworms but larger and higher in fat, they are best offered as an occasional feeder or treat for larger reptiles, amphibians, and arachnids. Each large superworm measures approximately 2 inches in length.
We do not recommend using superworms as a staple feeder. They are higher in fat compared to mealworms, dubia roaches, grubs, and hornworms, and should be considered a treat rather than a primary diet item. If your pet begins favoring superworms over other insects, it’s best to stop offering them for a week or two to help rebalance their diet.
Personally, I do not feed these to my reptiles due to their high fat content and personal preference. That said, I do not stock them in-house, but they can be available for same-day or next-day pickup upon request.
